It's the Holiday Season!

So as Kelsey reminded me, I haven't updated in 6 days.....and I left off on a kind of depressing post. Well Kelsey, don't read this because I'm going to tell you everything on Tuesday. :)

Warning: Reeeeally long post ahead!

Holidays are always pretty chaotic with my family. This year proved to be no different. :) Just the way I like it. Because then I just give my mom or Chase a glance and we start laughing because inside we are both making fun of something that just happened. Another favorite is when my mom and I talk about the crazy things my grandma does or her funny quirks with her standing in the room.....we just talk quiet enough because she can't hear all that well. Haha, we're mean...I know. But it makes for some fun in the chaos.

Well this year we were supposed to be in my parents new house, but it's not quite finished yet. All they have left is the floors and plumbing fixtures. I can't tell you how much I was looking forward to cooking in my mom's kitchen. So instead we had 7 people, 2 cats, and 1 dog in my grandma's 2 bedroom house. Chase and I actually got to sleep in a bed, apparently we've been good this year. Haha. We got into town Wednesday afternoon and I immediately went to Wal-Mart with my mom and aunt (so. many. people!!!) while Chase and my sister went to see Harry Potter. We came back and I instantly started cooking. We were just making finger foods for dinner since we were going to eat so much the next day. Sooo, I decided to make my cream cheese with ham pinwheels and spinach dip. I also made one of the desserts early, the Neiman Marcus pumpkin cake. Let's just say all the food was a HUGE hit! Made me feel so good about my kitchen abilities. My brother and his family also came over that night. Let's recap real quick, he has a family of 5, so the total now is up to 12 people and 3 animals. Most of the seating arrangements ended up being 11 people and the dog in the living room, 2 cats under the bed and my dad in the sun room. (He's on the more anti-social side). We decided to all circle up in the living room and play Catchphrase (the old school one where you need a magnifying glass to read the word). It was the most hilarious game I have ever played! We were constantly laughing at the way everyone was describing the words and the off-the-wall answers people were throwing out. After about 3 hours of screaming and laughing we had to call it quits.

Then we get to Thanksgiving day. I was up around 6:30 with all the other women in the house (except my sister). Why you ask? We weren't really sure, we didn't have much cooking to do. We sat around drinking coffee and talking for awhile then I decided it was time to make my last dessert, Sweet Potato Pecan Pie Tarts! I was most proud of this dish. They turned out SO good!!! I apologize to Kelsey and Molly for making you eat my first batch of these, i'll make you better ones, promise! Then we all got ready and headed to my dad's sister's house. 16 people total at our Thanksgiving dinner, but it all worked quite well. After spending a few hours there we headed back home and proceeded to watch football for the rest of the day. Wait wait wait....let me back up just a little bit. Right before we left, my sister decided to be EXTREMELY immature and show her true age, has a lot to do with my last post. Ended up with me crying some, Chase telling me how proud of me he is for everything I've done so far and a quick text rant to Kelsey. :) So we basically didn't speak the rest of the day. That night we all wanted to play a game again, well since Taylor (my sister) and I dominate at Catchphrase we had to be on the same team. We warmed up by playing some Skip-Bo (not as much fun as I remembered as a kid), then we played round 2 of Catchphrase. Oh did I mention that my blind dad and my blind/hard of hearing grandma were on the same team? Haha. Made for some more hilarious times!

Friday I kinda wanted to do some shopping, but no one else did and I sure wasn't about to get up on my own, so we got up, got floor tiles for mom and dad's house and went out to the property. This is the first time i've seen it in about 3 months and it looks AMAZING!!!!! I am so incredibly jealous of her cabinets, they are gorgeous! I can't wait until we are all in it! Then we did some running around and it was time for Chase and I to have our date with Claire. We headed downtown, got asked for money by 2 homeless people with in literally 20 steps, then headed to Wasabi for some sushi! It was amazing, of course. There were way too many LSU fans there though, but I put my feeling aside and enjoyed dinner. :) Then we went and got coffee and waited until my sister got out of her basketball game.

Saturday is game day! We were supposed to tailgate (this lasts from approximately 7:00 am until about 2-2.5 hours after the game is over), but my dad had to go work at the house, so Chase and I, my aunt and grandma headed out and got there just in time to see the band march in the stadium. I was fighting tooth and nail to not go to this game. I did not want to go....period. But after a 3 hour bad mood, I put on my happy face and got in the car. Boy am I glad I was forced to come to the game. It. Was. AMAZING!!!!!!! I was freezing as soon as the sun went down because I didn't bring a jacket but I was yelling ad jumping around so much that I didn't really care. We got our boot back (Ar-Lsu games are a battle for the Golden Boot, a gold trophy of the 2 states; 175 lbs, 24 carat gold, valued at $10,000....a little overboard? I think so, but it's awesome!!!) The refs of course, weren't giving us some calls we deserved, the LSU fans were holding true to their "rude, crude, and prude" attitudes and we weren't playing like a team that wanted to win at first....but despite all this, we were never losing at any point during the game. We (#12) took down the #5 Tigers handily, winning 31-23! After the game Les Miles (LSU's coach) said "I'm not happy," Miles said. "It's not how it was supposed to end for us." Hahaha, Perfect!!!! (Arkansas fans HATE LSU and LSU fans HATE Arkansas). It was great being able to walk out of the stadium heads held high knowing that we knocked LSU out of the top 10 and moved ourselves right in! Now we're hoping for an invite to the Sugar Bowl in New Orleans, which unfortunately in on Jan 4th (a Tuesday) and none of us will be able to go. :(

Well that's all of our vacation, i'll learn to paraphrase as the posts go on. Haha. Here's a picture of the boot (since I know you all were dying to see it) and me with the Boot my sophomore year of college. Pictures of mom and dad's house to come!
