All things food

So now that I'm reeeeeally in the Christmas spirit, my Christmas food spirit has been rekindled! i want to bake anything and everything; cookies, pies, cakes, soups, stews, chili's, everything! I was really proud of my dinner Monday night (oven fried Cod with green bean casserole and salad). Tuesday I was on my own so I made a pimento cheese sandwich (Front Door/Back Door style)! Tonight, dinner (i think) was a bust. I tried a meal in a box, normally these are good, tonight it wasn't. This was the best thing about the meal.Molly's AMAZING yeast rolls! It has been so long since I've has traditional, true yeast rolls, I forgot how yummy they are! I definitely would've rather eaten about 4 rolls instead of the rice stuff underneath.

I've also been addicted to these. Kelsey's oh so yummy candy cane cookies! Luckily I only have about 4 left. Everytime I walk in the kitchen I find myself grabbing one. So good!!!

I also made some russian tea cakes and thumbprint cookies. Russian tea cakes are probably the easiest cookie you could ever make, but somehow for the second year in a row I have managed to mess them up. At least this year they tasted good. The best part of the thumbprints are Kelsey's Aunt's jam that we used in the middle. I fear that since it's only December 1st, that I will either gain 20 lbs this month or be so tired of being in the kitchen, that I'll never want to cook again. (I'm betting on the first option).

In Chase news, he's doing great! He's passed his first 2 tests and has his second sim tomorrow. The rumor is now that they will hit the flight line before Christmas. The seems kinda crazy since "Christmas break" is only 2 and a half weeks away. I'll be anxious to see how he does with his first flight now that his plane doesn't have the glass cock-pit. I'm sure he'll be like a little kid again as soon as they start taxiing down the runway. I'll leave you with our Christmas tree! I've never had a tree put up earlier than about a week before Christmas so I'm extremely excited to look at it and have the lights be out night light every night. Now hopefully I can keep it alive for the next 24 days.
