It's the little things

I have always been one to thrive on the little things; notes, cards, rainbows (always make me think of Jesi), flowers, figuring something out for myself, holding the door open for someone and them actually saying "thank you", getting a close parking spot but taking the far one and seeing someone much older than me getting the closer one and not having to walk in the rain or cold, buying something penguin for Kelsey because I know it's guaranteed to make her smile, and most recently, getting all the customs forms right for the first time EVER at the post office.  Just any little thing that most people probably wouldn't notice, I live for them.  I think this is why I love Christmas so much.  I love doing things for people, helping them out in any way I can, spending hours upon hours trying to pick out the perfect present and card.  (I consider myself the ultimate supreme card picker-outer, I can find the most perfect card for ANY situation to match ANY person)  I try to put my own personal touch on everything that I get for someone.  I love knowing that my presents are unique and will make the receiver think of me every time they look at/use their gift.

This had me thinking about what I really want to do in life.  If there was a USO around here, that's where I'd be working.  It's been one of my life goals to work with them.  I've got to do something where I can help people.  I would love to work for non-profit organizations, charities, etc.  (Obviously you can see that making money isn't one of my life goals)

Not much going on in my life these days.  Just working on getting Christmas presents finished and keeping the apt clean and dinner on the table.  Oh and you know, sneaking in my Kelsey/Molly time as often as I can.  Sadly the "military wife" cliche fits me to a T.  I unfortunately do not do much help in disproving the myth that spouses sit around socializing and drinking coffee and wine and go to lunch.

So I know I mentioned how Trans-Siberian Orchestra was my favorite Christmas music ever...of all time, well my favorite thing to do (which unfortunately I haven't gotten to do in the past couple of years) is go to Silver Dollar City.  It describes everything that Christmas is to me.  It's old fashioned, family oriented, there's over 3 miles of lights strung throughout all the buidlings.  You can ride roller coasters (as long as the temp is above 40), you can browse through tons and tons of crafts, watch people make fudge, salt water taffy and many other sweets on the spot, watch a blacksmith in action and watch a glass-blower do his work then proceed to buy some of his works.  You can eat good southern food (my favorite is cheeseburger soup), take the train ride singing Christmas carols and looking at more lights then stop halfway and hear the Christmas Story by a "grandpa" in a rocking chair with light-up displays helping him out along the way.  Then at the end of the day you race back to the front of the park and get a good seat for the parade, get your funnel cake and hot chocolate, watch the parade go by then wait by the 5 story Christmas tree for closing time.  The tree is also one of my favorite things about the park.  It plays my absolute favorite version of Carol of the Bells as well as many other Christmas Carols that they put a unique spin on, all while thousands of lights are blinking and flashing along with the music.

Ah, can you tell how excited I get about this???  It's something that Chase hasn't been able to experience yet, so I'm really hoping I get the chance to take him soon.  I just hope I haven't overwhelmed him by how excited I get and he's left unimpressed by it all.  Here's an album showing all my favorites from the park.  This was from 2005.  2006 was the last time that I was able to.....I am WAY overdue.   Silver Dollar City 2005
