I'll do it....tomorrow

This seems to be my theme these days.  I've always claimed to be the world's worst procrastinator, but with my blog, it seems to be true.  My fellow bloggers put me to shame when it comes to posting.  Sometimes it makes me wonder though....why don't I have anything I feel the need to write on?  My brainwaves just aren't working as hard as they used to these days.

The past few weeks have been pretty exciting though.  Let's go back to January 29th.  It was a Saturday and it was a mandatory fly day.  It also just so happened that this day, the temperature reached a fabulous 70 degrees and there wasn't a cloud in the sky.  Who spent the day in shorts and outside?  This girl!  Sadly Chase was working hard (I actually got to see him take off that day...from afar...but it was later confirmed that it was him).  The next day was a lazy, rainy Sunday.  Chase wanted to get outside on Sunday since the temps were still mild and it hadn't started raining yet so we headed for the nature trails on base.  There are tons a trails back behind the flight line.  We had fun exploring, heard a little bit of thunder (music to my ears) then got caught in a downpour.  Now most girls might think the day was wasted at this point and it was time to start running home.  Not this girl.  Getting trapped in the rain only made the day perfect!  We trekked on and finished the trail which brought us out by the pond.  We stopped and skipped rocks for about 30 minutes then headed back home.  It was only a couple of hours, but it was just what we needed.

Then the fun really began.  Kelsey and I have started Zumba.  It is so much fun!  We go every Monday and Wednesday and boy is it a workout.  It's great because it's fun moves, basically Latin dancing the whole time, but the kicker is that you're constantly moving.  You definitely work up a sweat pretty quick!  In between Zumba we were frantically planning Chase and Chris's surprise birthday party.  We made up lies to keep the guys out of the loop, did lots of shopping for supplies and all day Thursday was spent baking like mad women.  Chase's flight is about 4 days behind from the rest of the 48th FTW, so his flight was once again called in for mandatory Saturday AND Sunday flying.  Weekend #2....because apparently when you're still 4 months out from graduation, there's no other time to catch up other than the weekend.  Chase was supposed to fly Sunday, well this threw a damper in our plans seeing as how he would need Saturday to prepare for his flight so the executive decision was made to move the party to Friday night.....and....you guessed it.  The next day, his flight was moved to SATURDAY.  Can you say frustrating.  We were ready to pull our hair out and confess everything to guys.  Luckily we calmed each other down and reminded ourselves that it was worth it and moved on.  So like I said, Thursday I was at Kelsey's by 9 am and we literally baked until 2:30 and got everything out of the house just in time for Chris to come home.  A few more hiccups happened Friday, but the Surprise was a HUGE success and the guys really didn't have any idea.  Here are some pictures from the night.  There were so many people and the guys were so happy.  Kelsey and I were ecstatic that all our hard work paid off.  The last picture very accurately describes how Kelsey and I both felt that night.

Fast forward to this week.  (this post is almost over I promise)  Chase's birthday was yesterday.  It was very low key, he worked all day.  I did get to meet him for lunch, which was nice.  He got an Excellent Overall on his SIM too.  So proud!  I made him his 2nd favorite dinner:  Shepherd's Pie (because I'll be a bad wife and admit that I forgot about Chicken pot pie) and his favorite; a carrot cake.  Sadly I slightly overcooked the cake, but for my first time I was quite proud.  Chase had some news when I met him for lunch too.  Their flight is still behind, so this will also be mandatory Saturday AND Sunday flying.  Guess who's scheduled to fly BOTH days....yep, that would be Chase.  Weekend #3.  Good thing we didn't have anything planed for the weekend anyway.

I have some other exciting news to blog about, but that will come later.  (I promise it will be within the next couple of days).  I will leave you know with probably my favorite picture I've ever taken from outside our apartment.  Who would've thought that MS could be this kind of beautiful.
