Smackers Day 1

Got to work at 10:30 this morning.  We thought everything was going smoothly.  Around 10:45 we had our first customer (one of the owners father).  He was so excited to be our first paying customer (even though he doesn't have to).  We were trying to ring him up and error after error kept coming up.  We could not figure out what was wrong with the computers.  We then realized that to run card transactions a manager needed to be signed into the computer.  To load a gift card a manager also needed to be logged in.  This became a problem when a lady came in to bu 4!  We finally got all the kinks (sorta) worked out and were moving on with giving out samples, keeping the toppings filled and sending people on their way with their amazing Smackers yogurt!

We had a pretty decent stream of customers coming in all day.  At any given time there were at least around 5 customers in the store.  During our most busy time (the ribbon cutting ceremony) I am confident that there were over 50 people in the store.  We were swamped!  But we were handling it and everyone was enjoying the samples and getting to choose any of our toppings (more on that later).  After the ribbon cutting ceremony it was time for the kids to get out of school.  There were at least 20 customers (if not more) at the store from around 2:30 until I left at 3:30 and I'm sure the lines continued long after too.  The school kids were SO excited about the yogurt.  This made keeping the cold toppings area clean a little bit harder.  Cheesecake kept getting in the strawberries and brownie pieces were mixing with the blackberries.  Whipped cream was sporadically sprayed over about a third of the toppings too.  It was nice though because it gave us something to do.  We were constantly moving today.  There was always something to clean, sweep, refill, a sample to be given or someone needing to checkout.  I'm going to try with all my might to convince Chase that he needs to go get some yogurt tonight and I actually want to be a customer.  I am so overwhelmed at the thought of what I could get.  I watch people mix things all day long and I cannot even begin to tell you what I want in my cup.  I will have plenty of chances to try every combination possible I'm sure.

Now let me tell you a little bit about Smackers.  The yogurt is made with all natural ingredients.  The dairy all comes from cows from Russellville, Arkansas.  I knew my state was good for something!  All of the yogurts are either sugar free, non fat or both.  I think the orange sorbet and California tart are dairy free also.  We have 12 cold toppings:  strawberries, mangos, kiwis, pineapples, blueberries, blackberries, cherries, cookie dough bites, brownie bites, cheesecake bites, chocolate covered espresso balls, and mochi.  Our dry toppings are m&m's, jelly beans, gummy bears, sour gummy worms, marshmallows, strawberry fizzles (yogurt covered pop rocks), rainbow sprinkles, chocolate sprinkles, sprinkle chocolate chips, regular chocolate chips, twix, snickers, butterfingers, kit kats, reese's, mini reese's, oreos, chips ahoy, vanilla wafers, graham crackers, apple jacks, fruit loops, captain crunch and fruity pebbles.  I'm sure I've missed a few too.  We also have granola, pecans, almonds walnuts, and peanuts.  As well as hot chocolate sauce and caramel sauce, marshmallow and peanut butter sauce and ghirardelli chocolate, white chocolate and caramel sauce.  Now you see why I say it will be overwhelming to choose what I want to eat.  I don't know how to girls did it today.  Thanks to everyone who came today!  I know it was overwhelming.  Hopefully the new will wear off and it won't be quite so busy all the time (although I'm sure the owners want it to be that busy all the time).  Ha!

Tomorrow is Day 2.  I'm working the late shift tomorrow so I'll be sure to report back how they differ.  Oh and everyone I work with is AMAZING!  I don't think I've said it today but I feel so blessed to have this job!  On another note, I love looking outside at 6 pm and it still being light outside.  Oh and don't get me started on the temperature!!!  Absolutely amazing weather.  Upper 60's-lower 70's all week!  Off to figure out something for dinner and convince Chase that we need to go get some Smackers tonight!
